Summer is officially over, and the kiddos have probably already been back to school for several weeks. It’s crazy how time flies, isn’t it?
With another month in the books, HCSS is here to report on Bid Letting data from our project-to-analyze bid results. Each month we gather bid information from most of the state-level transportation agencies in the U.S.
We then use that information to identify whether contractors using HCSS products like HeavyBid, HeavyJob, HCSS Safety, HCSS Telematics, and the rest of the HCSS platform are seeing positive results when bidding for these public projects.
“Positive results” isn’t just being the lowest bidder, but being the lowest bidder while still making money on the project and avoiding leaving too much money on the table.
How Our Customers Are Winning More
In August of 2023, 366 contractors using HCSS submitted 948 bids for 511 projects. The phrase that rings most true when discussing these projects is “bid more, win more.”
When all was said and done, those 948 bids resulted in 300 wins for HCSS customers. The month worked out to HCSS Customers submitting about 10% more bids than contractors who are not using HCSS.
That overall win rate last month of 31.65% is right in line with what we’ve seen this year. Even sweeter is the fact that when HCSS customers did win, boy did they nail that bid!
Money Left on the Table
In August 2023, the money left on the table by HCSS customers was only 6.94% – the second lowest this entire year – but also one of the largest gaps between HCSS customers and contractors not using HCSS. Where HCSS customers left less than 7% on the table, contractors without HCSS left 9.86% on the table. That’s a nearly 30% advantage on the side of each HCSS customer.
For HCSS Customers, they were the low bidder on $3.1 billion in projects compared to only $2.1 billion for non-HCSS contractors. Among projects where HCSS customers were bidding, contractors not using HCSS only won $1.3 billion (less than half of the amount won by our customers).
Yet again, as HCSS VP of Product Kishan Patel said at the 2023 UGM Keynote, with HCSS you can bid more and win more.
22 Years Together & A Project Win
A shoutout to HeavyBid, HeavyJob, and Forms customer James J. Anderson Construction Company, Inc. (often called JJA) who was the low bidder on a project in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. 22 years earlier, JJA purchased a single standalone license of HeavyBid.
The amount of time this contractor has maintained a working relationship with HCSS is an absolute milestone, we love keeping an eye on their many achievements!
