Yellow iron. Earthmovers. Dirt Diggers. Track hoes, graders, pavers, rollers, rock trucks, crushers, scrapers, loaders. When working in heavy civil construction, these pieces of heavy equipment are at the heart of what it means to be a dirt mover. That’s why preventative maintenance, regular inspections, and production rate tracking are all critical parts of operating as a profitable company.

HCSS has long provided end-to-end solutions to help our customers achieve excellence and is excited about the new possibilities with its latest innovation. Fortunately, HCSS Plans allows the ability to place equipment location directly on the plan sheets, enabling foremen, superintendents, and project managers with unmatched context for every jobsite.

Telematics Data Where It's Useful

HCSS Plans has constantly worked to give foremen the context they need using its combination of Location Services features. Photos or equipment locations on a map view are useful, but work is always done to suss out which part of the project the photos or equipment are. When plan sheets enter the equation, suddenly knowing the context of the photo or the equipment location is effortless.

“Customers need equipment data where they find it most useful,” says Falk Hoeppner, Principal Quality Assurance Analyst for the Fleet products at HCSS. “We do a good job of sharing around equipment data to our equipment partners internally: Equipment360, Dispatcher, FuelerPlus. There are a bunch of people that are underserved, who might have a need for context-related equipment data on the go. They need equipment data in the context they work in.”

HCSS Customers Utilizing This Integration

Dhawal Gundlakadi, Project Engineer at CMES Inc. a company whose mission centers around a technology-driven business strategy, had this to say about the new integration.

CMES Inc. is a heavy highway general contractor in Georgia.

"This integration gives the foremen the context they need. CMES hadn't given foremen access to HCSS Telematics before because it wasn't very useful for them: this provides foremen with valuable information by allowing them to see the location of equipment on a map and the specific part of the job the equipment is currently on. This added context can contribute to more informed decision-making and better management of resources on the construction site."

Conclusion

HCSS Plans and HCSS Telematics are excited to combine efforts to give foremen the equipment data when they need it. By combining real-time information on the equipment with the plan sheets, foremen are empowered further by having the data they need when on the jobsite.
