The Northsight Blvd. Extension Project improved Northsight Blvd. from just east of Hayden Road to Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd. and Hayden Road from just south of Northsight Blvd. to 500 linear feet north of Northsight Blvd. Formerly a private street between Hayden Road and Frank Lloyd Wright, Northsight Blvd. became a public roadway upon completion of the improvements. The challenge throughout construction of balancing the ongoing needs of Scottsdale’s local business and travelling stakeholders and accommodating events was met through the committed teamwork of the City of Scottsdale, Kimley-Horn, Achen-Gardner Construction, and the private utility companies.
What makes it interesting?
The City of Scottsdale, Arizona, utilized the Construction-Manager-at-Risk (CMAR) project delivery method to creatively and concurrently complete the design, develop important detailed construction phasing with input from work zone stakeholders, secure needed right-of-way, and begin utility relocations of this heavily traveled interchange.
