The project is located at the Baltimore-Washington International Airport near Baltimore, Maryland. The 20-month, $80 million airport project will bring Runway 15R-33L into compliance with the new Federal Aviation Administration-mandated safety standards. The work included moving all in-pavement lights, construction of new shoulders, reconstruction of Taxiway P, reconstruction of Taxiway D, reconstruction of Taxiway R and modifications on numerous other adjacent taxiways along the 2-mile runway. Some notable quantities for the project included more than 150,000 tons of asphalt, 300,000 cubic yards of earthwork, 100,000 ton of P-209 stone base, 50,000 cubic yards of concrete pavement, 1000 new pavement lights and over 94 miles of 5 Kv cable. The pace of construction included one seven-month runway shutdown which was responsible for approximately $60 million of the work.
