Located in London, Ontario, Hyde Park Road is one of the city’s busiest north-south arterial roads. To mitigate this congestion, plans were made to widen the road to four lanes from Oxford to Sunningdale Road. Amico’s scope of work in construction included: road reconstruction consisting of the widening of the existing two-lane road to four lanes; CN Rail bridge construction/rehabilitation; a reinforced soil slopes retaining wall installed (150 meters high to maximum retained height of 7 meters, including an integral noise retention wall); and installation of 1200 meters of water main (750/600/450/400mm), with 45-meter jack and bore under the CN rail tracks. Sewer work included the installation of over 2 kilometers of storm sewers (1050/975/750mm); private drain connections (where requested); curb and gutter; full restoration of sidewalks/driveways, and new bike lanes and sod.
What makes it interesting?
The Hyde Park Road Reconstruction Phase 1 project was one of London, Ontario’s most substantial road-work projects of the year.
How HCSS Software assisted with this project
The integration of HeavyBid and HeavyJob has allowed AMICO to successfully analyze bid assumptions and actual field performance to achieve desired results. The road construction software tools in Heavy job allow for real-time reports that allow them to manage the road construction project effectively and close the loop back to estimating with field performance data for the next project. This particular project was broken up by the client into two phases with separate projects. The ability to use AMICO’s data from the field in the first phase will give them a competitive advantage in bidding phase 2.
