C.J. Mahan Construction Company working as a subcontractor on design-build structures being constructed for the Virginia Department of Transportation US 460 Connector. The signature bridge features a 1727-foot by 10-foot twin cast-in-place segmental structure with trapezoidal box superstructure; segmental spans of 268.5 feet, 489 feet, 489 feet, and 268.5 feet; two precast concrete girders with spans of 110 feet and 103 feet, and unique H-shaped pier columns with heights in excess of 200 feet. Concrete is being produced on-site with a Mahan-owned-and-operated dry-mix batch plant. When complete in 2015, it will be the tallest bridge in the state of Virginia.
