The Santa Rosa Island Range Road project involved rebuilding an 13.1-mile road located on a barrier island in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The road is located on Eglin Air Force Base. The road had been destroyed from hurricanes Ivan and Katrina. C.W. Roberts designed and installed approximately 8 miles of sheet pile to armor the roadway.
What makes it interesting?
The new road had to be designed to withstand a Category 3 hurricane, and there were numerous cultural and natural resource-sensitive areas throughout the project that had to be protected.
How HCSS Software assisted with this project
HeavyBid allowed C.W. Roberts to prepare a competitive bid and budget for this road construction project. HeavyBid easily handled multiple suppliers and subcontractors during the final day of closing out the bid.
