On average, more than 41,000 trucks and automobiles travel through the Intersection of Alum Creek Drive and Groveport Road each day. At this key Rickenbacker-area intersection in Groveport, Ohio, construction was aimed at easing congestion and preparing the roadway for future increased traffic. The $10 million project entailed construction of two roundabouts on Groveport Road — one east and one west of the Alum Creek Drive and Groveport Road intersection — that are connected by a flyover bridge or overpass that allows traffic to move more efficiently.
What makes it interesting?
This setup with two roundabouts is expected to be the first of its kind in Central Ohio. On average it is estimated that a trip through the new interchange would save drivers nearly four minutes, compared to waiting at the traffic light.
How HCSS Software assisted with this project
Through road construction software features, both HeavyBid and HeavyJob were used during the project, allowing the contractor to remain competitive and track all associated project costs, time, and quantities.
