HCSS Plans is a digital plan and document management solution that helps your office and crews stay up-to-date and communicate changes more efficiently.
HCSS Plans is filled with features that are dedicated to the heavy civil industry. Calculators for volume, average end area, trucking, and more help superintendents and foremen work smarter and safer.
Ed Bell Construction has been using the calculators in HCSS Plans at their job sites and have seen significant savings.
“One of our foremen ordered some trucks to move some concrete barrier wall pieces,” said Jake O’Brien, Earthwork Coordinator at Ed Bell. “Just using a gut feeling that we should check the number of trucks required, we went back and used the calculator to check his math. We were able to reduce the number of trucks and save almost $4000 by getting the correct number based on cycle times.”
Ed Bell also uses the average end area calculator to take off dirt quantities. On one job, Project Superintendent Joshua Smith called in a survey crew to measure how much dirt they needed to haul off towards the end of the project. Smith also used the average end area calculator to double check and came up with a number in about 45 minutes. The results varied only slightly from the expensive survey crew, which could have been used at more pressing jobs.
HCSS Plans has a number of calculators to help project managers estimate volume and more, all of which are designed specifically for your heavy civil jobs.
