Bi-directional Interface to P6 and MS Project
HeavyBid's bi-directional exporting feature allows you to export a fully resource-loaded schedule to both Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project. Here we see an estimate that has been completely worked up and is ready to export to scheduling for review. If I go into our scheduling subsystem within a few clicks I can have this exported to Microsoft Project or Primavera P6. In this case, you can see all of the Pay Items or Bid Items in the estimate, and all of the activities that have the actual work involved, and how many days HeavyBid has scheduled for them to complete. To quickly create scheduling codes that will be used in the scheduling system, I can simply go down and click Auto-filled Codes. Everything has a code set out for it. If I had custom codes I wanted to use, I can just enter those directly here in the Schedule Code or I can even use the Custom Codes feature which allows me to customize those codes as they come in. After I have this coded out I simply go to the Review Schedule. Here it shows me all of the Schedule Codes and how many days in the scheduling system each we give it. When I click Export to Primavera it's gonna start the process for the export and walk through exporting the Pay Items, the Bid Structure and all of the Resources as well so that you end up with a fully cost and resource-loaded schedule. Once I get the export completed, I'm now ready to go look at this in Primavera P6. Now that I'm in Primavera, I simply go to the File Open screen. There's the estimate that I've exported out. I open that project and now I can see all of the activities sent out as well as any additional information, what the schedule is. If I need to change any of these or my scheduling person needs to change them, they can simply go in, drag schedules longer, shorten schedules that are necessary, move them around and schedule them out with likes and predecessors. Once I have those changes made I click the Commit button, changes are saved. If I jump back into HeavyBid, I can import this job again. It's gonna contact my Primavera system, let me choose the project I'm importing and click OK. It's now importing all of those scheduling changes back in. HeavyBid will show you all of the changes made in the scheduling system. Here, in the Rework Stone Base, I can see that there were 36 shifts scheduled in HeavyBid, but in the scheduling system that was cut down to 30. This allows the estimator to go in and analyze, what can I do to that crew to increase production, to get this done in 30 shifts instead of 36. I can modify the crew or modify the calendar so the crew is working longer days.
